Hornsey Road Baths Performing Arts Centre for Young People.

Completion Date: May 2011.
Contract Value: £2.2m
Client: Islington Borough Council

This will be one of the most exciting creative hubs for young people in London, bringing together the history of the Victorian baths and laundry, the needs and desires of the young people of Islington, and the best in design and technology for a mixed-use performing arts centre. The project clients included 14 fully appointed young people from the borough, who were closely involved in the brief and design of the centre.

“It will transform the opportunities available to local young people to take part in high quality positive activities in a new world-class performing arts centre,” she said. “It will also be a place where they can access a range of support services as well as targeted support for the most vulnerable.” Paula Belford, Islington Council’s Exec Member for Children and Young People

James headed up the competition pitch, acted as lead designer and consultant team leader, and co-designed the sign.
